Public Event · By Rochester Indymedia
Rochester Indymedia is hosting a regional convergence for independent media makers, grassroots activists, and community members. June 2012 completes Rochester Indymedia's first decade as an organization and to celebrate we're hosting a conference that you won't want to miss. The weekend will facilitate new directions for peoples’ media as well as facilitate collaborations between media makers and activist groups. You will walk away with a better understanding of the media landscape, practical skills for media creation, and new relationships to build on.
When you register, please consider donating a $10-$35 sliding scale donation to help us pay for food and other supplies and materials for the conference. Waivers will be available.
Special guests include: Mike Burke (DemocracyNow! producer), Yusef Shakur (Detroit community activist, former prisoner http://www.yusefshakur.org/), DeeDee Halleck (Media activist and co-founder of Paper Tiger TV), The Stimulator ("It's The End of The World As We Know It and I Feel Fine" http://submedia.tv/), Mara Ahmed (local independent film maker), Branda Miller & Steve Pierce from The Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy, NY (http://www.mediasanctuary.org/), Amy Dalton (Philadelphia & US Indymedia http://indymedia.us/en/index.shtml), Elizabeth Press (Streetfilms http://www.streetfilms.org/), and all the supporters and members of Rochester Indymedia.
