A NEMORY OG BEATY

A MEMORY OF THE BEAUTIFUL BEDOUIN WOMAN
(Bedouins are a nomadic tribe that live in the Sinai Desert)

A vision, a pictured vision:
a Bedouin woman walking
with her husband and small boy.
Holding their baby in her arms,
she was the picture of colorful vision
caught in the sun's rays.

A modern madonna was the fleeting
first impression of my listening gaze.
Unusually tall; walking
proud and gracefully:
willowy yet strong.
Her face was beyond measure,
lovely outwardly;
inwardly.

She was unbelievably exquisite;
this modern antique Madonna, with
infant enfolded in her arms.
Suddenly she must have sensed
my presence, my feelings,
my woman's eyes...

Clothed in black...
enfolded from head to foot,
encased in blazing sun,
silhouette,
she turned and smiled.
I captured this smile –
this image of exquisite perfection.

She was the purity of happiness;
the purification of joy.
Her presence engraved a portrait
upon my spirit with her long, oval,
enormously slanted dark eyes,
hollowed high cheek-bones,
finely etched smiling mouth;
wondrously shaped, sensuously sweet
yet delicately carved.
Proud sweet feeling like a laughter gaze
on moon-blackened light.
Cradled infant, man, boy.
I engrave her portrait upon my spirit.

For a sound-splintered second
she returned, isolated in motion;
emotional space; then vanished once more
from sight of time beyond life

MALADY

Malady

Trapped inside the prison walls
that used to be his mind,
the brilliant man he used to be
departed far behind.
There still are times he's quite alert;
his memory returns.  On other days
he's lost inside the void that is his brain.
He is unable to take care of many
intimate chores.  He must not be alone
for days; his safety must be assured.
So he was taken to a home,
where he might (so they hoped)
regain his thought.
He had good days, when he recognized
his children and his wife,
was grateful for their company;
his brain could see dimmed light.
To most of his family and friends
it’s painful to watch him like this.
He was such a brilliant man, and now,
all they could do was pretend to love;
and then he took his life.

ADAM ADAM
(A dream memory)

A siren wails.
I awoke with a start, trembling,
surrounded by people,
alone, watching, waiting,
immobile.
I wrap my arms around myself,
remembering.

People shift around and about:
cloudy marionettes in
a neon-lit madness.
I close my eyes
burdened by memories,
writing thoughts
indelibly seared in my mind,
trancelike,
shifting backward in time.

My eyes remain still, closed.
Where am I going?
Why?
Where am I?
Lady, the marionette?
Mesmerized I slowly remember –
Adam... Adam...
please, come back.
I love...

I remember now:
I am walking in my
Mother’s garden...

I shall not worry.

Man plans and God Laughs
By "Laughing" Larry B

Things must happen for a reason
I'm an oil and gas "Greensman* turned poet
who would have thunk it possible?

Years have past
I begin to enjoy driving again

only to have my 6th major car accident
where the other car turns in and hits me
The car was totaled
but some how my passenger and I walk out unscathed.
And to top it off the insurance company pays us more for totaling the car
then when we'd first bought the thing eight years ago!

Blessings come in all  shapes and sizes.
There is an old saying " They whom the Gods would destroy they first make mad."

I'm not angry just confused.
and well okay, I'll admit it !
I may be just a little bit crazy
but I'm still here!  And I'm Still writing!
Maybe God does know best after all.

Neat Huh?

oops ! sorry I forgot to tell you .
every industry has its jargon and  small company oil & gas exploration ( less that say Exon but more than Jed Clampet ) is no different. For instance , the engineers who have the least experience on the drilling site at called "worms" . an "oricale" is a more experienced engineer who has brought in at least 10 wells successfully  and a "green'smen" is the term for the folks who raise the money to go drill the holes in the ground and look for oil and natural gas as in " you can't make the scene if you haven't got the Green"

See you next time.
