3.Effective February 6 and each Wednesday thereafter The August Group in cooperation with Medaile College and 4C Choices will offer a special program for students and recent graduates.  Greg Taylor, the Founder of The August Group and 4C Choices will moderate these new sessions.

The Millennial's Challenge :

The challenges faced by college graduates since 2009 have been overwhelming in this economy.  Unemployment rates of graduates with 4 year degrees have ranged from 72-80% within three months of graduation and it improves little over time.  Last spring the Bureau of Labor Statistics cited that 53.6% of those 25 years old and younger with 4 year degrees were either unemployed or in a job requiring no education.  They face student debt that is staggering.

Target Audience

We welcome recent graduates of both college and high school and students in either college or high school.  We encourage you to spread the word about this new program offering of The August Group.

Program Offerings

We will offer networking, training and frequent guest speakers including local career advisors, networked professionals, recruiters and employers.  Job search and career exploration topics will be addressed frequently.  We will provide direction and connections while building skills and confidence.

The Schedule

The scheduling will alternate on a weekly basis.

Luncheon sessions - 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays - 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Evening sessions - 2nd and 4th Wednesdays - 4:00 p.m. to 6.p.m.
For more information, contact Greg Taylor at GTaylor@AugustGroup.org

4. Don’t miss these two events:
Event #1:  The Multi-Million Dollar Poetry Industry
This is an overview of the American Literary Scene!

Covering the 7 markets in which you can Make a living form the $7.3 Billion ( Yes, I said Billion with a B!) poetry industry.( Note: After 8 years in Rochester, NY working to help writers in all genres make a living at what they do, the seminar presenter, Mr. Lawrence R. Berger has concluded that the markets for novelists, journalist,  screenwriters, technical writers and any other genre you want are EXACTLY  the same as they are for poets. As a poet and self –help writer himself, Mr. Berger has chosen to base the information on the poetry Genre for two reasons: 1. After working in this area to make a living since 1999 and paying his bills by working in these same 7 markets, . 2. If he added in every other applicable genre he’s afraid he simply could not count high enough to give an accurate dollar value on the size of the market ( By the end of this seminar you’ll see the breakdown of the 7.1 Billion mentioned earlier.) You’ll also learn:

·         The levels of reputation you’ll need to develop to be “successful” in the 7 markets
·         The two “Poetic orientations” (note: Again this also applies to all other genres. All are welcome!)
·         A little bit more about Mr. Berger than you’ll find on this flyer and how he might help you further.
This presentation will be open to the public! All welcome! Costs: $25 per attendee.  Time:  3-5 P.M.  Date:Saturday, March 16th 2013 Location: Gallery One Fine Arts, 2575 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14623(Behind Suburban Liquor, next to the Beers of The World Plaza.)

Special bonus for seminar attendees: All paid attendees will receive a copy of an article by Mr. Berger titled: “ Times are Changing.”  It contains the results on the information he gathered when he was told that there was now a law on the books that would make e-books tax exempt in New York State and the opinions he’s formed as a result of doing the research and writing the article. Some attendees may feel that the information in the article is worth the $25 in and of itself so I’ll let you make the choice. You can either pay the $25 for the article and get the seminar free or you can pay the $25 for the seminar and get the article for free. As long as you attend the event I can assure you Mr. Berger won’t notice the difference! See you there!

5. Event 2: a special ESP READING:
In this case, since we’re inviting all writers in all genres to attend this as well, ESP stands for everybody swaps pages. The way it works is this : all attendees who wish to participate put their writings into a pile ( preferable one page each but for time’s sake please no more than 5 8.5x11 pages stapled together.)   The pile gets shuffled, and the first reader reads the first page(s) off the top, the next the next work down and so on until we’ve gone through the entire pile. The only Rule is: you absolutely cannot read your own work!  If by chance your page(s) happen to be up when it’s your turn, place the work on the bottom of the pile and read the next one down.  Mr. Berger last conducted an ESP reading in Rochester, NY in August of 2011 for the Just Poets Organization and even now two years later people who attended that event are still coming up to him and saying  it was the most fun they’ve ever had at a poetry reading and asking when he plans on doing it again! Some of these poets have been reading professionally for over 30 years and they still say this!Come join us and see what it’s all about!
Date: Saturday, March 16th 2013 Time: 5:30-7:30 P.M.  Costs $10 Location : Gallery One Fine Arts 2575 East Henrietta Road Rochester , NY 14623 (Behind Suburban Liquor, Next to the Beers of The World Plaza.)  Note to anyone interested in pre- registering:  If your payment is into our offices by Friday March 1st 2013 you can get into both events for just the seminar rate of $25! This event is also open to the public! All are welcome! Make Check or Money Order Payable to Skysaje Enterprise and send to:Skysaje Enterprise, 50 Amesbury Rd., Rochester, NY 14623 For credit card payments in advance: visit http://www.paypal.com  and follow the directions to send your payment to the address  laughingl@yahoo.com  You can also use this e-mail to contact Mr. Berger with any questions. See you at one or both of these events.

, I usually don't do this but:
A little bit about Mr. Berger: Mr. Berger is a nationally renowned performance poet who also has over 30 years of experience as a sales and marketing professional. He’s authored 6 books of poetry, 2 self help books, a novel and two screen plays. He has appeared in major events such as: The LA Spoken, The Sacramento Heritage festival, ARTWALK ALIVE, The Los Angeles DADA festival, Poets at the Armory, and many more! Here’s what folks are saying about him:  “Lawrence R. Berger is a Rising star in the Arts!”  “Holly Crap! And the year continues!

Hi folks: even more stuff happening. Lets get right to it! Here are the three readers for this post:

1. Maureen Nielsen: Professional experience includes employment preparation/job readiness trainer, employment specialist, job developer, career coach, and facilitator roles. Career-related instructional design and development include employment Preparation Traing, Career Exploration, Career Enhancement, and LinkedIn. In addition, technical communications, general communications, project management, and business/systems analysis.contact mnielsenbsn@rochester.rr.com

2.David Haygood Jr. : My favorite subject is the human body, which in my opinion, is the greatest invention ever! When I paint portraits I start and finish with the eyes because they tell the story. I find people in general to be intriguing because everyone has their own story and because there’s so much we can learn from each others experiences. I believe whenever I paint I have to have something to say and I also try to paint positive, spiritual and uplifting images. I believe a painting should draw the viewer into it and cause dialog .I feel closest to God when I’m painting... and that’s true joy! Gallery One Fine Arts  2575 E. Henrietta Rd.Rochester, NY 14623 davidhaygoodjr@yahoo.com

3. MJ Iuppa: Widely considered to be the best poetry teacher in the Rochester,NY area, MJ has headed the Arts Minor Creative Writing Program  at Rochester's St. John Fisher College for several years. She is also a long time member of the area's Just Poets organization and has taught several workshops on page based poetry forms . Most recently, the Elegies and the Cinqian. I've been fortunate to have learned a good deal of what I know about page based poetry forms from MJ in these workshops and am very proud to know she  is one of this blogs regular readers!   She can be reached for interviews, questions and upcoming workshop dates through her office at the college:  (585) 385-8412 Email: miuppa@sjfc.edu

On to more in 2013!

Judging by the number of hits last weeks post received, I'm thinking your enjoying the new format! Thanks for the feedback and keep reading these blogs!  This week we have three new people, a few events and info on my stuff too. I posted a brief bio on myself as a poet in December of 2012 as part of the promotion I was doing for a reading I was giving at the Flowetic Rhytms series . If you want to check it out the post was titled "we're getting into the Ha-ha Date home stretch." If you'l like to check it out just scroll, down through these posts till you find the one with that title. I'll get into more about me later. For this post here are the three people:

1.Cindy Blair: Cindy Blair was raised in the Christian faith with a love of verse from the Bible. Her poems have been published in several anthologies and online. "Whispers to My Heart: Emerging from the Depths with God" is her first solo collection of poems. She earned her Bachelor Degree in English/Creative Writing at SUNY Brockport in 2011.  https://www.createspace.com/pub/simplesitesearch.search.do?sitesearch_query=whispers+to+my+heart%3A+emerging+from+the+depths+with+God&sitesearch_type=STORE

2. "Fantastic" Frank Johnson: Radio talk show host , Motivational Speaker and author of "From Flawed to Fantastic! How I turned my disability into an A$$et. " Frank  graduated from Clarkson College in 1971 with a BS in Chemical Engineering with a GPA of 3.89 or so. Frank doesn't remember exactly, but Frank was 10th in his graduating class out of about 2,000,
Then Frank went to work for Eastman Kodak Company but that he had always had an entrepreneurial streak in him. Frank started the Fantasy Mail Company which was one of the first mail order subscription comic book companies in the world in 1976 and ran it while still being  employed full time at Eastman Kodak Company until 1979 when he had sold it  to go into another business.  He got trapped in a fire and became disabled. Along the way he got divorced, and became lost with his Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) for about 20 years or so then he heard about a man named Anthony Robbins and he said yes to going to his events. In December 2002 he got his chance to be on stage with Anthony Robbins. That is where he got his idea for his comic book and that unbeknownst to him there was his future business partner in a leadership role. There; GOD is GREAT Isn't he?At the event I had  heard Anthony speak about a similar event, where a man named Jeff Hart got the idea for the screen play Sleepless In Seattle, and wrote it and sold it for $250,000.00 And he, in his ignorance said how hard could that be not realizing that Mr. Hart had been in the movie industry for about forever and had only to go up to his boss @ Sony studios and pitch him the idea. But that he had this idea to make a comic book, and then make it into a movie that will be bigger than Star Wars and Harry Potter combined. He took ACTION. He hired a writer to write the THE YOUNG EXPLORERS comic book. His MISSION IS TO MENTOR PEOPLE. He wanted to show you that no matter where you are in your life, anything is possible. It does not matter how much money or (little that you may have) it does not matter what your disability is unless you can’t form a focus and have a persistence of your mission. Then there are of course more steps to be taken each day but it starts out with a definite purpose and a burning desire to go forward no matter how hard it may seem at the time.Contact: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fantasticfrank Copyright © 2013 I Am Fantastik Frank Disclaimer: The content of this website is not intended to be a substitute for therapy or professional advice. 3. " Mister Electricity" Jim Bolt:Jim Bolt is a performance-poet... with the emphasis on performance. His work is a powerful in-the-moment fusion of spoken-word, theatre and dynamic motion. As one of the pioneers of true performance-poetry, Jim has been featured on MTV, performed at the Lollapalooza rock festival, slammed at the National Poetry Slam and continues to electrify audiences around the world. I'm very proud to count Jim as my mentor and friend and VERY happily surprised that he still takes enough interest in me to continue to read this blog!  Jim Bolt is available for live performances at colleges, schools, civic events, night clubs, rock clubs, poetry readings and private events. Please contact his representatives to discuss your event.Pacific Talent  Models, Inc.
