The Marrying Kind

By Lawrence R. Berger
When you find someone to spend your life with, spend it with them!
My parents are on their fiftieth year and still kiss like young lovers !
That's the marrying kind to me. see you next week.

The trip Part two

Hi folks : Happy fourth of July! Today's the seventh but who's counting? Anyway here's the way home.:
My cousin's Wedding Part two the way home
By Lawrence R. Berger
I wake to the phone in the room ringing.
My parents are calling to get me up to go to the
breakfast that is being provided for out of town guests .
I dress quickly and bring my luggage out of the room
to meet them. We go to the lobby and check out .
They offer to hold our bags
till we actually leave and we take them up on it.
Inside they have a huge spread:
eggs ,salmon. sausage and bacon
and all kinds of baked goods.
I feel sorry for the hotel , nobody touched the sausage or bacon,
though why they would serve pork at a Jewish wedding is beyond me.
We sit with my brother, Cheeseburger and his wife .
We sing Happy Birthday but no cake . Anyway we spend the morning together.
At 3:45 we collect out bags and the Super Shuttle picks us up.
The driver's name is Tony and he informs us that we are his last passengers.
He was leaving the company to bicycle to New York from Tampa
Poppy gives a pep talk that lasts the entire trip . We get to Air Trans and check our luggage . Selma eats an ice cream as we wait for the tram to our gate.
Poppy gets stuck in security even though he wore his cloth belt.
But we make the gate and onto the plane and have to wait an hour for take off due to weather conditions . My cousin Cindy and her family sit in the row in front of us. She tells us she told her kids to get tall ladders for eloping after what she saw
her sister spent in Florida . There is a crowd at the gate and they send us to the wrong baggage claim but eventually we get our bags and make our way home.
see you next week!

The trip ! Part one

Hi folks: Florida was fun and I'll tell you all about it in this week's poem ( the trip back will have to wait a week.) Here goes:
My cousin Erin's wedding
By Lawrence R. Berger
The flight down was smooth
and I didn't even need a seat belt extender!
I was so proud! If I fly again it will be Air Trans!
we take the train to baggage claim and pick up
our luggage and run to catch the super shuttle.
Jorge number five picks us up and we leave the airport
for the hotel .
We arrive early but they still let us check in which was nice.
Thankfully the rooms were air conditioned !
Florida was ninety degrees the entire weekend !
Anyway we eat at a place called Mad fish and find out about a place named Skippers that was even closer to the hotel and cheaper too.
we'd eat there three times before the weekend was over .
The ceremony was quite short
only last half an hour
but it was a good thing that the sun held up because just as we were going in for dinner a lightning storm picked up and provided a nice light show .
after a few toasts and dancing I go to bed.
part two next week. see you then!

Hanging at the airport
By Lawrence R. Berger
It's raining now as we Rush from the parking lot
suitcases in tow . we check out flight with the Air trans employee
and we have to pay $75.oo for our checked bags .
we run like we're being chased by wolves after
we barely make it through security towards the gate
we make the plane and Bring Bring . the alarm clock goes of to remind me its Thursday and there is still one more day to go.
Let you know how the trip pans out in next weeks blog. see you then.

Summer time blues.

Hi folks : well this week I went to a tombstone unveiling for my favorite aunt . It was bitter sweet but at least it didn't rain ! Afterwards we all gathered at Friendly for lunch and chatting . I came within a whisker of being assigned to the kids table but I managed to keep my seat. Here's this weeks poem:
memories
By Lawrence R. Berger
Time passes as it must
and along the way we lose
touch with people we love .
Ash to ash and dust to dust
and all that other crap
leads up to a life
lived till the end
I'll miss you.
see you next week.

Happy wednsday folks!

Hi folks : Been busy getting ready for the next wedding . It's in two weeks. oh well at least its not mine but a relatives. Not that I'm not interested in getting married myself , just that it's not happening in two weeks. Here's this weeks poem :

Anticipation
By Lawrence R. Berger
Clouds roll across the sky
day turns into night
and you wake one morning
and realize you haven't done a thing with your life.
Sometimes life is good
the cherry's are ripe
for the picking and
the sun shines
clouds roll across the sky
maybe its just the waiting
that makes it hard.

Sorry folks!

I'm back! sorry I missed last week but I'm here now! here's this weeks poem :

Stuff Happens 3
By Lawrence R. Berger
We leave Kansas city smooth as silk
but get hit between the eyes with
a three hour delay in Atlanta on our way
home .
What to do?
we decided to eat before we left Kansas
so we end up just watching kids play hackysack
by the phones. I wonder if the kids even knew what they were for.
Poppy gives his hydrogen peroxide speech for the millionth time
and the time moves on. we're asleep in our chairs when we hear the overhead
"now boarding flight 2210 to Rochester"
we get on the plane and
I have a coke .
we land and run to baggage claim and miracle of miracles our luggage comes off the rack ! we get home about 3:30 am exhausted but happy to sleep.
see you next week.
